Ring Size Guide

A ring should pass the knuckle with a little resistance and sit without spinning. Avaiya Gems uses this guide so you can measure at home before you order.

Measure a ring you already wear

Choose a band that fits the same finger. Measure the inside diameter in millimetres across the centre. Match that number to the chart below. This is usually more reliable than wrapping paper around a finger.

Measure your finger

  1. Wrap a thin strip of paper or non-stretch string around the finger, just below the knuckle.
  2. Mark where the paper overlaps. Keep it snug, not tight.
  3. Measure that length in millimetres. That is the inside circumference.
  4. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are typically a little larger. Cold hands read smaller.

Size chart

Inside diameter is the most useful number for matching an existing ring. Circumference is useful if you wrap paper around a finger.

Fit notes

  • Wider bands feel tighter. If you are between sizes on a wide shank, the larger size is usually more comfortable.
  • Knuckles that are much larger than the base of the finger may need a comfort-fit interior or a slightly larger size so the ring can pass the knuckle.
  • Summer heat and salt water can swell fingers. Do not size down from a swollen measurement.

If you are unsure, email a photo of your current ring next to a ruler to sales@avaiyagems.com and we will help you read the chart.
