Jewellery Care

A diamond ring is built for wear, not for neglect. These are Avaiya Gems’ care notes. They are not a substitute for a jeweller if a prong is bent or a stone is loose.

Daily wear

  • Take the ring off for gym work, heavy lifting, and contact sports.
  • Remove it before chlorine, bleach, acetone, and abrasive cleaners. Those can dull metal and weaken settings over time.
  • Put lotion, perfume, and sunscreen on first, then the ring. Residue films the diamond and makes it look sleepy.

Cleaning at home

Use lukewarm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush. Rinse, then pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Do not boil a ring, do not use toothpaste, and do not put a ring with gemstones other than diamond into an ultrasonic cleaner unless a jeweller has said those stones can take it.

Storage

Keep rings in a lined box or a separate pouch. Diamonds can scratch other jewellery — and each other — if they knock together in a heap.

When to see a jeweller

If a diamond rocks, a prong looks thin, or the shank has a deep nick, stop wearing the ring and write to sales@avaiyagems.com. A quick check after a knock is cheaper than a lost stone.
