Choosing Gold and Platinum for Australian Heat

Australian summers are hard on jewellery finishes: sunscreen, salt water, and sweat. None of that makes a diamond “fake.” It does wear plating and it does loosen dirt under a halo.

White gold is often rhodium plated. Chlorine and salt strip that layer faster. We describe this on the metal guide instead of calling white gold permanently bright. Yellow gold and platinum show a different kind of wear: scratches you can see, not a colour change overnight.

Take the ring off to swim, to surf, and to apply sunscreen. Lotions leave a film that makes a diamond look dull even when the stone is fine. Warm water and mild soap, then a pat dry, is the home clean we recommend on jewellery care.

If you want a metal named on the invoice, only order a listing that names it. We will not assign “18k yellow” in an email because the photo looks yellow on your phone.
